Mar 6, 2009: This week we had tech hiccups and it was not fun. Our internet (DSL) connection from Verizon gave us a lot of headaches. We were dropping connection every two minutes (literally). When we called up Verizon's customer service, they would have us reset our modem and connect us to the web for a few minutes. But as soon as we hung up we'd be back to square one! This happened several times. Finally we decided to give up Verizon. So we went ahead and signed up a for a new cable connection for high speed internet. Now we are back on the web at a much faster pace than Verizon's DSL. Hopefully it will stay this way. In that light here are our connected favorites of the week:
- The Digerati Life: SVB has written a fantastic post about Stress at Work Getting You Down? How To Manage Job Burnout.
- Prime Time Money: Here is a nice DIY project - How to Build Your Own Bookshelf. We are great fans of DIY stuff. Congrats Mr. PT Money :).
- Condo Blues: Want to declutter your house, especially lots of T shirts - here is another DIY hack - How to Make a T Shirt Quilt.
- The Greenest Dollar: A creative yet green way of building energy efficient homes - Homes Made From Old Cabooses.
- Financial Highway: Ray shares his views in Is buy and hold investment strategy dead?. We had based our investing on the buy and hold philosophy. At present our portfolio is down by 45%. Perhaps buy and hold is good for people who have infinite amount of money and time line for investing. For middle class people with limited savings buy and hold might not be a very effective strategy unless we put stoppers on the amount of risk and loss we can digest.
Here is the list of carnivals and festivals we participated this week. Have a nice weekend :).
