Gas is Expensive? Think Again

Gas is Expensive? Think AgainMay 25, 2010: We know that gasoline is not cheap. Neither do these examples suggest that gasoline is cheap. They simply illustrate how outrageous some prices are. Since we purchase these commodities in small quantities we're usually not aware about how expensive they are. More so, when compared to gasoline. Really, this set of data coerced us to think, and aided in correcting our perspective. Especially the last one!

1 gallon = 128 oz
  • Lipton Ice Tea: 16 oz @ $1.19 => $9.52 per gallon
  • Ocean Spray: 16 oz @ $1.25 => $10.00 per gallon
  • Gatorade: 20 oz @ $1.59 => $10.17 per gallon
  • Diet Snapple: 16 oz @ $1.29 => $10.32 per gallon
  • Evian water: 9 oz @ $1.49 => $21.19 per gallon - Evian spelled backwards is Naive, well we truly are!
  • Whiteout: 7 oz @ $1.39 => $25.42 per gallon
  • Brake Fluid: 12 oz @ $3.15 => $33.60 per gallon
  • Scope: 1.5 oz @ $0.99 => $84.48 per gallon
  • Pepto Bismol: 4 oz @ $3.85 => $123.20 per gallon
  • Vick's Nyquil: 6 oz @ $8.35 => $178.13 per gallon
  • Printers' Ink: $5,200 a gallon. No wonder companies (like HP) give away printers for FREE! They know that they'll make us pay through our noses when we buy their ink cartridges.
Well, this post is meant to add a little humor to help ease the discomfort of our next trip to the pump and it's subsequent drain on our hard earned dollars. We're glad that our cars run on gasoline and not any of the stuff mentioned above. Come to think of it, all along we were under the impression that a gallon of gas was expensive (kidding)!
