Aug 19, 2010: Bank of America is offering a $75 sign-up bonus for opening a personal checking account with them. After a long time we found a BOA checking account bonus. So it's a welcome :).

How to earn the bonus?

To open a new checking account, apply online and reference offer code CH75OL1.

Expires: To take advantage of this offer, you must use the Offer Code provided to open your qualifying new Bank of America MyAccess checking account by 12/04/10.

This offer is available only to Bank of America credit card customers who open a new MyAccess Checking account online and fund it with with $125 within 30 days.

The bonus will be deposited within 90 days of opening your new checking account. Your new account must be still open at this time to receive your bonus.

Limit one offer per household every 6 months. This offer does not apply to current checking customers or student checking accounts. To the extent required by law, Bank of America will report the value of the offer to the IRS. Any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the account holder.

Thanks Tom. In accordance to your observation, the last couple of months were definitely lean wrt bank bonuses. Hopefully there will be more bonuses since the holiday season lies ahead. We're planning to take advantage of this bonus too :-D.

I opened a B of A business account does that count as well? I was not told about it.

We are not sure if business a/cs qualify for the deal since it specifically mentions "personal checking accounts."

Do people routinely "bounce" from bank to bank just to take advantage of these small bonuses? Or are you thinking about changing banks anyway, and this was just the push you needed to pick BOA? I was just curious. We have so many scheduled deposits/debits from our checking account, it would be a nightmare to change banks!

Usually people who like to collect bonuses move from bank to bank to get them. The checking account needs are confined to an account which is not changed or moved at all (to facilitate easy bill pays for utilities, etc).
For those who love BOA this might be a great reason to move to BOA.
We love to collect, discuss and study Free Money deals and bonuses.

I follow a similar strategy. One brick and mortar (B&M) bank - Citizens Bank - for all my checking needs. Never close it, and several other accounts, opened and closed, just for collecting the free bucks! Thanks for this rare deal, keep it up.

Hi, I opened a bank account with BofA about 6 months ago for a $50 bonus.

Do you think if I close the account and then open up a new account for this promotion, would work?

The deal says:
"The new customer is not eligible for this offer if they were a signer on a Bank of America checking account that was closed within the last three months."

So perhaps you've to wait for 3 months after you close your present account to take advantage of this deal (provided it's available after 3 months).
