Apr 30, 2014: April begins with a fools day :). Jokes apart it is the month of financial literacy! April was originally the second month of the Roman calendar. Around 700 BC, King Numa Pompilius added the months of January and February. Thus April was relegated to the fourth position.
April was sacred to Venus, the Festum Veneris et Fortunae Virilis being held on its first day. Some scholars think that Aprilis was originally her month Aphrilis. The name was perhaps derived from her Greek name Aphrodite (Aphros), or from the Etruscan name Apru.
To us April is special since it ushers in the season when flowers begin to bloom. In the zest of a joyful creation by Mother Nature, let's "Retro-April" ...
